Shyriki and Vesta are a pair. We don't normally pair cats, but these two need to be together. What this video doesn't show is how much they play together, wrestle, chase, all day long!
Shyriki came to us as a special foster. A rescue took her in with her litter of kittens. The kittens were adopted and she stayed. She had been in a cage at a facility for a long time (they marked her as being four years old). Coming to our home was a shock to her - It was almost like she didn't know how to move in the world. She hid at the beginning. Everything was new to her.
She had the herpes virus which causes a mild cloudiness in her eyes. As well, - and the rescue didn't know this or tell us - she only has one tooth! We don't have a great explanation as to why. This means she must eat canned food.. Other than the eye cloudiness (which seems to have gotten better?) and her lack of teeth, she is healthy as a horse. Her fur is soft and full, her energy and muscle tone is great.
She is playful and happy to be alive and free. She's almost kitten-like. She follows you all around the house and runs and jumps everywhere. She's very small and gentle. She's not a huge cuddler, we think because the only time she was ever let out of the cage was to be held.
Meanwhile, we had Vesta who came to us in a litter of kittens, who was smaller than the rest, and was sick. She is very small for her age. She looks like she's about three months old, but she's more like six months. She's is very smart and playful and gentle, and loves to curl up on a lap to go to sleep. She also loves to play with her new best friend, Shyriki! They have been two peas in a pod and they are best friends.
They are both a part of our family, but we already have three cats, and this also means we'll have less room to foster in the future. So, we'd like to find them the right home if we can. They'd be great in a home with a gentle dog, or other cats, but even better would be the two of them in a loving home alone together. They do need to eat canned food, but they don't eat very much!
